Iowa City, IA - University of Iowa Health Care (UI Health Care) seeks a dynamic, experienced and distinguished executive to serve as its next Chair of Pediatrics, Carver College of Medicine and Physician-in-Chief, Stead Family Children's Hospital. This is an extraordinary leadership position for the next Chair to elevate research, advance the academic mission and expand integrated pediatric clinical care at one of the nation's leading academic medical centers and elite children's hospitals. University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics (UI Hospitals and Clinics) is the clinical arm of UI Health Care and provides the full spectrum of specialty and subspecialty care drawing patients from Iowa, the region, and around the world. UI Hospitals and Clinics employs over 10,000 FTEs, and the medical staff includes more than 1,000 clinical physicians from the Carver College of Medicine. In 2017, UI Health Care opened a new 14-floor, children’s hospital - adding 134 pediatric beds and 507,000 square feet to the UI Hospitals and Clinics’ main campus. The Stead Family Department of Pediatrics currently includes over 170 faculty, a three-year pediatric residency, and 12 subspecialty fellowships. It is home to one of the top academic departments in the US, with over $13 million in funding from the NIH. The completion of the Stead Family Children's Hospital positions the department for growth and ensures a commitment, now and into the future, to pediatric care for the children of Iowa and the region. The Chair and Physician in Chief will be an outstanding clinical and academic leader with a demonstrated ability to set a vision, effectively inspire, manage and mentor others. The successful candidate will have a record of extramural research funding, a reputation as an outstanding clinician, experience working in a patient-centered pediatric clinical program, talents for philanthropic development, and a passion for academic medicine.
