WittKieffer is honored to partner with the Texas Hospital Association (THA) as it seeks a dynamic and distinguished Chief Executive Officer to lead one of the most respected healthcare associations in the U.S.
Based in Austin, TX, THA is a nonprofit trade association representing over 500 Texas hospitals and health systems. The leading advocacy organization for Texas hospitals, the association serves as the face, unified voice, and industry leader, working to protect and promote its members. THA defines and operationalizes its core competency of advocacy as identifying members' current needs, anticipating future needs, and implementing programs, products, and services that address those needs. Simply put, THA helps hospitals help Texans.
The new CEO must continue supporting THA's mission, to advocate proactively on behalf of hospitals at the state and federal levels on issues that will assist members in their mission of community service and care to patients. The Chief Executive Officer is responsible for the strategic direction and overall operation of THA, providing a wide range of member services to enhance the ability of the members to achieve their mission and objectives.
Texas continues to be a dynamic and ever evolving healthcare delivery environment, inclusive of healthcare organizations ranging from high quality rural and safety net hospitals and health systems, to some of the nation’s leading teaching and research institutions. The Chief Executive Officer will join an Association that seeks to address complexities and differences among the membership, and drive balanced solutions. Facing these challenges, the Chief Executive Officer will focus on representing the membership and their collective advocacy priorities. Additionally, the CEO will need to communicate effectively both internally and externally to a variety of stakeholders at the state and national level, including business leaders, and regulatory and legislative bodies, advocating for solutions which capitalize on similarities of focus in the member institutions and rally around a common strategy and message. The CEO must further tell the story of the critical contributions of the hospital and healthcare industry, and drive an agenda that THA members and its most critical stakeholders will embrace.
Reporting to the Board of Trustees, the Chief Executive Officer will work closely with the Board and THA staff to develop the strategic vision to achieve the organization's goals and objectives, and ensure THA continues to pursue initiatives and positions that are reflective of its members and support the current and future needs of the State of Texas. The Chief Executive Officer will be energized by the current challenges, and work collaboratively with members to cultivate a trusting and cohesive relationship with them. There is opportunity for the next Chief Executive Officer to position the Association boldly as the leading voice to drive efforts to improve the health status of the residents of the state.
The Chief Executive Officer must be a superb communicator with a passion for and ability to elevate a broader, more holistic conversation about healthcare issues and the variety of factors that contribute to the total cost of healthcare, member reimbursements and the overall health of the State of Texas. Overall, this is a highly visible role that provides a motivated and savvy leader the platform to impact Texas healthcare for many years to come.
