AdventHealth is seeking qualified candidates for Vice President/Division Chief Medical Information Officer (Division CMIO) for our Multi-State Division located in Shawnee Mission, Kansas.
Reporting to AdventHealth Chief Medical Information Officer, the (Division CMIO) is responsible for oversight and coordination of all clinical activity associated with or impacted by AdventHealth Clinical IT Systems, including acute, post-acute, and ambulatory practices within the Division. The Division CMIO is responsible for the activities of the Regional CMIOs as well as their success and development.
The Division CMIO plays a key executive role in the Division, as the tactical leader for clinical IT; championing and supporting the implementation and use of the clinical information system and technologies, while ensuring the close alignment with the Division CMO and CNO, where they exist, and/or the facility and medical group CMOs and CNOs.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Support the business strategies relative to physician and clinical workflows, related to the execution of AdventHealth and AIT strategies required for the achievement and reinforcement of AdventHealth’s mission to extend the healing ministry of Christ.
Align with AdventHealth’s strategic goals by advising AdventHealth’s CMIO on the need to leverage or configure AdventHealth’s Clinical IT systems to better meet the needs of physicians and clinicians in the Division.
Serve as the key representative and advocate for physicians, Advance Practice Providers (APPs) and other clinicians by developing an understanding of their needs and building relationships with them to promote effective engagement, and the adoption of AdventHealth Clinical IT and organizational strategies and initiatives.
Oversee the Regional CMIOs in the Division to ensure that there is clear alignment between them and the facilities for which they are responsible, including acute, post-acute and ambulatory as well as tight coordination with the CMIO Ambulatory, Post-Acute & Community Connect.
Support the execution of ambulatory, post-acute, long-term care and other non-acute AdventHealth initiatives and strategies, through collaboration with the Regional CMIOs and CMIO Ambulatory, Post-Acute & Community Connect.
Establish an open line of communication with the administrative and clinical leadership at the various AdventHealth facilities within the Division to facilitate improved care, data flow, and workflows.
Act as a member of AIT Leadership, including participation in the AIT Leader Forum, AIT Director Meetings and other AIT forums. Provide feedback to AIT Leadership on Division and Market initiatives and coordinate with AIT Leadership on disseminating AIT initiatives into the Division and Markets.
Serve as a member of the Executive Leadership Team for AdventHealth Clinical Informatics, along with AdventHealth CMIO, the other Division CMIOs, the CMIO Ambulatory, Post-Acute & Community Connect, the Chief Clinical Informatics Officer and the VP for Evidence Based Practice and Acquisitions.
Work closely with the AdventHealth Legal, Risk and Compliance Rapid Decision Group (RDG) to ensure compliance with organizational policies and regulatory standards related to Clinical IT.
Collaborate with the Division and Medical Group Chief Medical Officers and Chief Nursing Officers, operational leadership, and AdventHealth’s Quality and Safety team, to achieve best practices and clinical excellence, within regulatory guidelines.
Develop new or modify existing workflows to meet or comply with new regulatory requirements
Leverage the investment that has been made in the EMR, and other advanced clinical and non-clinical technologies, by analyzing medical and health data and by using that data to help advise the AdventHealth CMIO on opportunities to reduce the cost of care, more efficiently use the workforce, expand access to care, and improve the quality of care, within the Division and, potentially, across the organization.
Review new capabilities delivered by vendors and identify and evaluate new technologies, when appropriate, that could result in cost reduction, care expansion, and quality improvement.
Work with AIT to maximize value by evaluating opportunities for the expanded adoption and application of existing technologies.
Develop strategies, training and change management plans to better engage physician and clinicians in the use of AdventHealth clinical technology systems.
Collaborate with the AdventHealth CMIO, Division, Facility, and Medical Group CMOs and CNOs to facilitate, coordinate, and implement the portfolio of strategic initiatives that have been prioritized by Corporate and Division clinical and operational leadership.
Provide counsel to the Market and Division Executive teams, AdventHealth CMIO, Division CMIOs, and the AIT Informatics teams, on how clinical IT decisions could impact clinicians and patient care, as well as patient and/or consumer satisfaction.
Closely work with the CMIO Ambulatory, Post-Acute & Community Connect to facilitate and support the Regional CMIOs, as they provide support for the employed physician groups in their respective markets.
Work with the AdventHealth CMIO and AdventHealth Chief Analytics Officer to facilitate the flow of information between the various acute, post-acute, ambulatory, community and non-AdventHealth venues of care, within the Division, to provide clinicians the information needed to arrive at the best clinical decisions.
Assess the opportunity to use data and analytics to improve the quality of care that is delivered in the AdventHealth care network and facilities within the Division.
Act as an advocate for the clinicians, and ultimately the patients and consumers, by communicating with physicians and clinicians about the benefits of adopting technology to improve care, while acting as a conduit to provide their feedback to AIT, the AdventHealth CMIO, Market and Division leadership.
Build relationships with physicians, clinicians, AIT informatics and technical teams across the acute, ambulatory, and post-acute venues of care with the Division, to promote clinical excellence and consumer engagement, through the use of clinical information technology.
Serve on various Market, Division, executive, and technology committees, representing both consumers and clinicians.
Supervise, manage. mentor, and grow the Regional CMIOs to best serve the Markets, Division, consumers and patients.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND LICENSURE REQUIRED:
MD / DO degree from an accredited program
Residency trained in one of the 35 ACGME approved medical specialties
Board certified in a recognized medical specialty
Current unrestricted US medial license
Minimum of 5 years of clinical practice providing direct patient care
Clinical information systems experience with a focus on adoption of the related components, including front-end voice recognition, electronic documentation, mobile technologies, clinical decision support, computerized provider order entry
Education, Experience and Licensure Preferred:
Current or recent clinical practice (within the past two years)
