Purchaser Business Group on Health (PBGH), an action-oriented, national nonprofit organization with a 30-year track record of improving health outcomes, experience, and affordability for consumers and health care purchasers across the United States is seeking an experienced CFO to serve as the organization’s combined CFO/COO and lead the finance and accounting, human resources, and IT operations into the future.
PBGH advances quality, drives affordability, and fosters health equity in partnership with its members, some of the largest and most innovative private and public purchasers of health care. Members include Boeing, Cisco, Intel, eBay, Walmart, CalPERS, and Washington State Health Care Authority. PBGH members collectively purchase $100B of health care annually for more than 15 million Americans.
PBGH’s unique capabilities (purchasing, care redesign, measurement, and policy) enable the organization to both improve the performance of the U.S. health care system and support private and public purchasers in purchasing higher quality and more affordable health care for the employees, families, and retirees.

The CFO/COO will be responsible for partnering with the CEO, Chief Strategy Officer, Board, and other leaders to identify, model, and implement funding approaches that advance PBGH’s mission. They will play a key role in developing financially sustainable products and services. This expertise will include modelling financial scenarios of new undertakings including launching new services, pricing new and existing products and services, and reviewing cost-benefit analyses of current offerings. They will have a strong understanding of the relationship between nonprofit and for-profit entities and the potential governance structures, tax implications, and considerations required to effectively manage non-profit ownership of and affiliation with PBGH’s for-profit spin-offs. The CFO/COO will facilitate discussions with the leadership team regarding long term financial planning and lead the ongoing creation and implementation of PBGH’s financial plan.
