We are seeking a Physician - Medical Control Officer.Position Summary: The MultiCare Medical Control Officer Physician is responsible for providing safe and effective medical direction to determine the appropriate level of care and facility disposition for all patients entering into MultiCare inpatient or observation status, in partnership with the surgical/procedure teams at each IBU. The guiding principle is to ensure patient safety. This position has the complete decision-making authority to facilitate capacity management across our system. This includes supporting vetting of transfers within MultiCare hospitals and into MultiCare hospitals, facilitating patient progression through downgrades, providing medical direction for prioritization of patient placement into scarce resources in order to help meet the needs of our communities across the MultiCare Health System. This position functions in a multidisciplinary, collaborative practice environment, where critical thinking skills are used to interpret complex information and guide patients to the appropriate care facility and level of care. The MCO physician will be responsible for leveraging technology to maintain a current understanding of each facilities capacity and acuity of care.
Minimum Requirements: Qualified as a "provider" under Medicare or Medicaid programs 5 years of clinical practice experience (as Hospitalist, Intensivist, Emergency Medicine) preferred. Board certification/eligibility required for this position are: Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Med/Peds, Hospital Medicine and Leadership experience preferred. Prior management/ leadership or directorship roles in hospital, managed care and/or medical group practice preferred Experience with data analytics, Utilization Management, process improvement preferred
Education/Licenses/Certifications: Doctoral degree in medicine (M.D. or D.O.) Current active and unrestricted licensure as a Physician in the state of WA as well as applicable neighboring states as determined by geographic catchment area.
