PURPOSE OF POSITION: To provide administrative leadership and accountability within the Department of Patient Services. Areas of responsibility would include oversight of multiple services lines; leadership teams and supporting staff encompassing provision of care; education; environment of care and professional practice for the Patient Services Department.
REPRESENTATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Planning: Participate in the development and implementation of the Patient Services Strategic Plan aligned with the Medical Center strategic plan. Determine avenues to improve the value of care and services at CCHMC. Develop business opportunities to enhance reach and revenue within and outside our region. Demonstrate strategic and systems thinking in area of responsibility. Participate in efforts to refine technology to support patient care and staff workflow. Drive Research in associated areas of responsibility.
Leadership: Provide vision, direction, and leadership in the department of Patient Services. Lead collaboration, planning, implementation, problem solving and evaluation efforts for areas of responsibility both at strategic and tactical level. Maintain personal development plan and provide management development, relationship building and coaching for other members of the team. Represent CCHMC at state, local and national level through involvement in professional associations and organizations. Participate in community service.
Human Resource Management: Partner with departmental leadership and Human Resources to develop and monitor effective and appropriate strategies and programs related to attracting, hiring, and retaining top performers, workforce planning, succession planning, and on-boarding. Achieve targeted departmental productivity measures. Assure that staff and managers are actively engaged in unit, divisional, and organizational shared governance activities as reflected in the minutes and other related documents. Foster a 'magnet' culture.
Financial Management: Assure financial accountability for annual operating and capital expenditures and budgets. Meet yearly goals for contribution margin, percent variance from budget and overtime rate. Assure efficiencies in staffing and resource utilization by comparison with internal and external benchmarks as measured by productivity units appropriate for areas managed. Execute and oversee innovative management strategies for cost effectiveness.
Performance Improvement/Safety: Continually assess and improve the performance of care and services provided. Maintain an environment that ensures patient and staff safety. Meet annual safety goals as defined by the organization. Ensure a high level of customer service, including family centered care. Foster continuous improvement activities. Embrace change management through the exploration, development and implementation of evidence based practice and quality efforts. Identify best practices as well as deficiencies to share with peers and make recommendations for improvement. Participate in the development of corrective action plans to guide needed and sustainable improvements.
Regulatory Compliance: Areas of responsibility are in compliance with regulatory requirements and accreditation standards.
Qualifications
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Required:
Master of Nursing Master of Business Admin Master's in Hospital Administration OR similar field with a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
10 Yrs experience in associated discipline with 7 years in a leadership role having significant business impact
Preferred:
Doctorate in related discipline.
