The Department of Surgery at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and the Department of Surgery Division of Pediatric Surgery at Lurie Children’s Hospital seeks a full-time tenure track Investigator or non-tenure-eligible Clinician-Educator at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor. Tenure-Eligible or Tenured status will be determined based on qualifications. Candidates must have demonstrated leadership experience, strong clinical and interpersonal skills and superb emotional intelligence. This role is a connecting point between other leaders within the division and serves as the voice for division members. The Division Head represents and leads the Division's 17 surgeons as well as the advanced practice providers, trainees and administrative team members. The Division Head spearheads the development of strategies and surgical programs aligned with the Department of Surgery’s strategic plan, which involves integrating clinical, research and teaching. She or he will work collaboratively with appropriate peer leaders and the Surgeon-in-Chief to plan, implement, evaluate and improve programs within the Division. This individual will oversee quality improvement and related initiatives to ensure the professional aspects of regulatory compliance and will work closely with our academic affiliate at the Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine.
The ideal candidate will have outstanding technical skills, a passion for clinical excellence and importantly, the ability to work effectively with collaborating teams in and outside of the Department of Surgery. Additional qualities include:
Exceptional interpersonal skills, maturity and superb emotional intelligence
Strong commitment to education and teaching
Demonstrated scholarly activity in an area of clinical or basic science research
The candidate must have their MD degree, board certified in General Surgery and Pediatric Surgery (fellowship trained in Pediatric Surgery).
