Nemours is seeking an AVP, Women's Services (Full-Time), to join our Nemours team in Florida.
The primary responsibility of the Assistant Vice President, Women's Services role will be to serve as the key administrative leader for the development and advancement of the Mother/Baby Service line including Nemours Fetal Care Center, Maternal Fetal Medicine Department and NCH FL Neonatology Division.
The AVP has primary responsibility to drive operational and academic excellence as well as program growth and provide administrative, operational, and business function support to the Nemours Fetal Care Center, Maternal Fetal Medicine Department, and the NCH FL Neonatology Division. Reporting to the VP, Florida Administrator and VP, Chief Strategy Officer, the AVP will work cohesively with members of the leadership team an Nemours Institute for Maternal Fetal Health to drive the organization's growth, innovation, and transformation initiatives for these key department/programs.
This position is responsible for leading all administrative, operational, and business functions of the Departments, which includes the clinical, research, educational and financial goals. This position will oversee all other business functions for the Departments, including those related to human resources; patient access, inpatient and ambulatory operations, billing and patient satisfaction; clinical program assessment and development; operating and capital budgeting and quality improvement as it pertains to the business and financial operations. This leader will provide and leverage market intelligence to support decision-making and to inform growth in support of both the ambulatory and inpatient programs that they service. This position will be instrumental to the establishment of long-term strategy for areas of responsibility.
Essential Functions:
Fiscal Leadership
- Works collaboratively with the VPs of Finance and Accounting, Revenue Cycle, Clinical Affairs, Research Operations and Patient Services as well as Principal Investigators, clinical providers, and other key stakeholders in the execution of fiscal responsibilities.
- Ensures pricing, contract and collection practices and policies within the clinical (hospital and professional) operations are appropriate, supporting the maximization of realized revenue while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Ensure policies and procedures support the accurate and complete capture of physician billings, combined billings, and hospital fees.
- Ensure monitoring processes are operational and effective.
- Establish metrics for divisional and individual clinical productivity (such as RVUs, billing revenue per FTE) and monitor actual performance against established metrics.
- Manage revenues from grants, industry contracts, endowments, donations, and gifts.
- Develop and monitor metrics for research funding by individual and team. Optimally manage resources and cash flow under grant and industry contracts.
- Accountable for the Hospital, Research, and Practice Plan operating and capital budgets, financial results, and consolidated financial performance reporting.
- Develop and monitor cost-containment strategies that drive greatest value for patients, families, and organization while creating financial sustainability.
Patient Access, Satisfaction, and Safety
- Responsible for participation in departmental and hospital programs for quality assessment and improvement, identifying opportunities to ensure top quality outcomes, improve the patient and family service experience, assuring patient and associate safety, making recommendations, and implementing actions as appropriate and consistent with the goals of Nemours.
- Responsible for overseeing, monitoring, and optimizing patient access to clinical care delivered by the departments.
- Will monitor performance against access targets and physician standards for clinic scheduling and wait times.
- Develop and implement improvement interventions when warranted.
Operational Leadership
- Guide the development and implementation of all operational dashboards. Oversee collection and analysis of data that measures success of areas of oversight against benchmarks. Refine or change programs, procedures, policies, and/or approaches in response to that information.
- Provide prompt, thorough, and accurate information to keep leadership appropriately informed of operating performance of areas of oversight.
- Serve as the direct liaison to the various VPs/AVPs and Department Chairs, and senior managers to promote the department's success, while promoting the broader institutional success of these supporting Departments and Nemours.
- Serve as the administrative representative to clinical services on appropriate committees.
Planning and Program Development
- Working with VP Strategy and Business Development and leadership, assist with strategic planning and the development of new clinical, research and translational programs directed at increasing market share, improving patient outcomes, and enhancing research and financial results while continuously monitoring and evaluating existing programs for improvement opportunities.
- Responsible for developing implementation plans, and operationalizing the initiatives aligned with NCH FL strategic plans.
- Working with clinical operations, Finance, and Strategy teams to ensure assumptions related to patient volumes, physician staffing, clinical production, research funding and capital investments that underlie the institute's plan are fully aligned with the Nemours budgets, forecasts, and long-range plans.
- Coordinate, plan and integrate clinic and office space needs for divisions with Facilities.
Personnel Management
- In conjunction with the Chief Medical Officer, Chairs, Human Resources, and the AVP's for the Departments as appropriate, oversee compensation matters including coordination with HR for and compliance with established Nemours procedures for offer letters, reporting of the results of annual compensation reviews and other matters to the Compensation Committee.
- Provide senior administrative leadership to all direct and indirect reporting personnel in the departments.
- Assess, develop, implement, and maintain appropriate divisional policies, procedures, job descriptions and philosophy as consistent with Nemours policies and values.
- Responsible for all planning and implementation related to accrediting requirements and associated requirements specific to the Departments.
- Understand, adhere to and model Core Standards as defined organizationally and specifically within the Departments.
- Provide mentorship to associates who report to this position to include career development and educational opportunities.

Job Requirements
- Advanced/Master's Degree in a business discipline required).
- Minimum 5 years of experience required.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in healthcare administration.
- Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in the areas of fiscal management, program development, regulatory, and communications including operating and capital budget experience within a medical center or other related experience in a complex organization.
- In lieu of master's degree, must have 10 years of healthcare administration experience in the areas of fiscal management, program development, regulatory, and communications (including operating and capital budget experience within a medical center or complex organization.)
- Travel to multiple locations is required.
